When I was in junior high, I also came to know this other French artist (who is admittedly completely different from Gojira). Daft Punk represents electronic dance music. With this record, I came to first tolerate and later appreciate four-on-the-floor beats and synthetic instruments. In the excerpt (that is also the best song on the record), "Veridis Quo", this beat is brought in in a manner that shifts the listener's perception on where the beat one is.
My take on Daft Punk: All three* LPs are good. Typical to the genre, there exists a myriad remixes of the singles from the records, all of which can be categorically ignored. The highlights of the first record ("Homework") are "Da Funk" and "Around the World". The second album's (this one's) highlights include the aforementioned "Veridis Quo", as well as "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" (which may be more familiar to people as sampled by Kanye West).
(*Editor's note: the original post completely ignores "Human After All" and repeatedly refers to "Random Access Memories" as the third studio album, for some reason.)
The magnum opus of Daft Punk, however, is the third fourth studio album, "Random Access Memories", on which the French duo transcend the limits of disco and EDM and produce a from-start-to-finish perfect remembrance of the early days of electronic music. The album features a slew of top artists as visitors. The album is easily in the top 5 of the 2010s regardless of genre. However, the influence on me had already been had before that record came out, so I couldn't choose it.
